Streak Hitting in Real Estate:  True or False ... in Ocean City, New Jersey

The concept of streak hitting represents a baseball emphasis ... but it can also be found in other sports including some individual ones like tennis and bowling, but also other team ones like basketball.  And it is not unusual to get the same feeling from the real estate field as one runs up a number of "pending sales," increased buyer contacts, several new sale listings at one time.  More than anything it is a real "feel-good" concept that tends to assist one in the streak (if one chooses to call it that).

Why am I thinking about this right now?  Of course, one should quickly grasp the answer ... Yes, I'm on a streak.  Now the question becomes "what have you been doing all of the time that this happens out of the clear blue."  And the fast answer would be "nothing really any different than before."

If you have been continuing to do the right things over and over, often one begins to wonder:  "when will something exciting happen."  After all, I'm working hard, doing exactly what I am expected to do, following my own plan (of activities) that I developed for the year.  I'm just not out there "winging it like some of the agents around me."  I call it "having it all come together once in awhile.  Yes, it could be "steady" all the time ... but for those with just a "less super-star status," steady doesn't always result in the payoffs.  Maybe not in the short time ... but almost always in the "long-time."

As I write this posting free style which is my normal writing style, thinking as I type along, I pulled out my "PEAKS and VALLEYS cheat sheet ... the one next to the WHO MOVED MY CHEESE cheat sheet ... both by Spencer Johnson.  That "Peak and Valley" one with the subtitle:  "Making your good and bad times work for you" says it all.  But let's add to that:  as one works through the "valleys" day in and out, you are readily preparing for the next "peak."  And when in a "peak," you always know there will be another "valley."  That concept represents (for me) my classic approach to my working cycle in real estate.

Just some random thought about a streak maybe not being a streak ... just the idea of always keeping one's eye on the ball, keeping your swing rotation proper, getting enough exercise, eating well, sleeping well, talking and spending time with your wife or husband and touching base with children.  Maybe reading a good book or watching a film.  It's all about "the right attitude" which enables us all to go "on and on."                  Dap
