Google Juice, What's That?

By
Home Inspector with HABITEC Home and Building Inspections, LLC

Recently I read a blog on ActiveRain where a participant used the term "Google Juice".  Well I have been recently making an effort to improve my website Search Engine Optimization (SEO) by reading some SEO books and articles on the internet, but none of these sources used the term Google Juice.

But as I read on I realized this Rainer was right.  What he referred to as "Google Juice" is just the stuff SEO is all about.  That is trying to get search engines in general and Google in particular to pay attention to your website.  When that happens your website is more likely to climb in the ranks of the organic search engine results.  Organic search engine results are those on a search page that are on the left side and are not paid adds.  Obviously getting your website there is very important in this day of web based advertising and making your website work hard for you for as little money as possible.

It seems Google uses many different methods to rank websites.  Title, content, and linkbacks are three of the most important components of SEO.  And linkbacks are probably the hardest components to maximize.  One way we can all maximize linkbacks is through blogging and replying to other blogs.  Each time you do that you add your name and possibly your website to the blog website and it becomes a linkback.

The easiest way to check your linkback count is on Yahoo.  Open Yahoo, go to the Yahoo search window, and type in site:yourwebsite.com.  Up pops a list of the pages linking back to your website and a numerical count at the top of this list.  You can play with the presentation to see exactly how many websites are backlinking to your site and from where.  If you are an active blogger you will be amazed how many of your linkbacks come from ActiveRain.

So for the good of your website SEO, blog away everyday!  And make sure your website url is in each blog entry including the http://.

Thank you,

Hi Richard - You've done some great research on SEO and explained Google Juice well. The great thing about ActiveRain is that each member's blog essentially points back to activerain.com, and with so many posts being about real estate, Google sees this site as a huge authority on the topic.

Hi everybody, thanks for the comments.

I wish I could take the credit for the term Google Juice, but someone else gets that.  But we can all use and prosper from it.  Let the Good Blogging Times roll!  There is plenty of Google Juice to go around!

Thank you,
