Baucus: People will be 'wealthier' under new health care act

"President Barack Obama made a campaign promise that he would not raise  taxes on individuals making under $200,000 or couples under $250,000. However, Senator Max Baucus, a Montana Democrat,  made a statement on the floor this week that seems to dispute Mr. Obama's tax pledge."

"One other point I think that is very important to make is that it's true in certain cases taxes will go up for some Americans who may be making less than $200,000," said Mr. Baucus."

Take the time to click this link, it is well worth a few min. to listen  James Lileks reacts on Hugh Hewitt's radio show to the statement by Senator Max Baucus today that Obamacare is really about wealth redistribution.

Alice: Taxes are always frustrating, no matter what your income bracket is.  Certainly, though, the middle class in our country really can't afford to cede much more.  These are troubling times!

Our current administration will definitely tax every wage-earning bracket more "for our welfare".  Think of all we could have done with the money we've "given" to Social Security. :)

All debate ends unless we are talking about a flat tax.  Then all participate equally.

Sonja,

I think of that everytime I get that Social Security statement. It really is sad.

Lane,

Unfortunately I think many are either apathetic or just believe what they want to hear.

I have said before I wish sometimes I lived in ignorant bliss. But then I realize at some point reality is going to bite you in the butt.

David I totally agree with you. I have a feeling it is going to get worse before it gets better. I do have hope because I believe November is going to be a rude awakening for those is Washington.

Dale,

Unfortunately I think we are far away from a flat tax. But you never know after Obama folks may be more interested in getting educated on what possibilities are really out there.

Just throw this one on the Obama lie pile.

LIES:

Americans earning less than $200k/yr will not be taxed

Children with pre existing conditions will be covered immediatley

No funding of abortions with Federal Money

Feel free to add on to the Lie Pile.

A specific tax in one area (or MANY specific taxes in MANY areas) might not be the particular tax one refers to, but they are tax increases.

The particular tax "he" referred to won't be increased, but touted as "fees adjusted for inflation", and "changed" to meet new budget demands, but NOT increased...  Get real...

Oh, and pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Alice,

Nice post, but I could have done without hearing Baucus again. Show me in the Constitution where it talks about people making too much money. :)
