Beginning of the Staging Era?

By

As I wrote in my most recent newsletter, about a month ago in a span of 2 days I had my desktop AND my laptop crash..what are the odds? Well the desktop was, I guess, my fault. The tower was dusty inside, I thought vacuuming it out was a great idea! So, I lived without access to a computer, except for trying to navigate the web on my small Blackberry screen, for two weeks while my new gorgeous Mac arrived.

During this time I thought how did I manage to do business only a few short years ago before I was so connected to everyone through the internet/email/social networking? Being connected has saved my business time, money and has even helped me form new friendships and gain new clients.

It makes me wonder, how long it will be before those in the Real Estate industry will think, how did I ever sell houses without having them staged? In the same way as staying connected has helped my business, Realtors that use staging as part of their marketing plan would be helping their sellers and themselves, by saving time, money, and even gaining new clients because you believe in staging!

Let this be the beginning of the Staging Era!

Tara, I have to ask... did you have everything backed up?  A couple of years ago, the hard drive on my Mac laptop up and died.  I hadn't backed anything up, and lost everything, including all my family photos that I hadn't printed off from my digital camera... :(  Glad to hear you have a spanking new Mac on the way!

Hi Tara- sorry about the computer.  We've become so dependent (and in love with) those little gadgets haven't we?  I hope we are approaching a new Staging era.

BTW- you might want to look into Carbonite.  It costs about $50/yr and backs up data in cyberspace.

Tara, I agree!

I believe - due to factors such as exposure to staging by HGTV and other media along with the competitive pressures on home sellers in the current housing "Buyer's Market" - that we are experiencing the beginning of a staging tsunami here in the East!

Tara....I also have my drive crash last month.  Cost me a bit to have all the data "found".  I now have a hard drive back up....on-line back up....and a power back up.  Like Kathy Streib....I use Carbonite for the on-line back up!  Hope that helps!

Thanks for commenting everyone! Yes a couple of months ago I had purchased a external hard drive so most of my data was safe, but even the other stuff on my hard drive I didn't have I was able to recover. And I am in looove with my new Mac!

I think the Staging Era is on its way. More and more agents in my area are advertising staging consults. My name is being passed from agent to agent.

Glad to hear you recovered your data.
