Music lovers in Arizona .... here is something for you -- Phoenix is about to offer a new attraction that will appeal to music lovers - a new Music Instrument Museum.

On April 24th the world's first global Music Instrument Museum opens in Phoenix Arizona. Instruments will be displayed according to continents of origin in 5 galleries. Visitors will receive wireless headsets to wear throughout the museum. As visitors approach different displays they will hear the instruments being played, either solo or as an ensemble. The same music will be played for everyone - but depending on the particular display the instruments will produce their unique sounds to the visitor who is in from of that instrument. There will be photographs and video to further tell about each instrument and to enhance the visitor's experience.

The facility plans to keep entrance fees low at this point so all may be encouraged to come and visit and participate.

There will be approximately 300–350 displays of different instruments. There are some celebrity instruments as well as exhibits that will show the restoration of musical instruments. People with instruments they would like to donate to the museum are encouraged to contact the organization. Also contributions and donations are welcome -- the organization is a non-profit organization.

The museum is located at 4725 East Mayo Boulevard in Phoenix, Arizona. What an interesting idea for a museum. I'll have to go visit their web site.

I think my husband still has a kazoo that I'd like to get rid of. LOL

Bob & Carolin, this sounds interesting. What will be the most expensive instrument? Will you be allowed to take pictures? I can not wait to hear more about this.

Quite interesting. It looks like they don't actually have any instruments yet although one of those huge drums from the Beijing Olympics is due to arrive.
