Face to Face
The internet and the many other electronic tools which are available to us in this technological world of today have become almost indispensable.
We hear statistics about how many buyers of any product and especially real estate start their search online.
65 percent, 75 percent, 85 percent, the number keeps rising as the internet becomes more and more accessible and as more and more businesses create a presence on the net.
But a key word in this statement which should not be overlooked is the word "start".
While for some products, a buyer's search might start and end on the internet, this is not likely to be the case with real estate.
In fact, for real estate it may be nearly 100 percent of searches that do not end on the internet.
Most buyers want to see the actual product. While photos, virtual tours, and fancy narrated videos can go a long way towards that end, it is the actual product that the buyers want to put directly against all of their senses.
When this happens, it usually involves a "face to face" meeting with a real estate agent.
So the question arises. Is your "face to face" presence as good and polished as your internet presence?
In front of the computer we may be unshaven, wearing pajamas, barefoot, and wearing curlers in our hair; we may have the baby at our side and the pooch by our feet; we may be snacking on pretzels and sipping lemonade; and we may have a filthy and junk-filled car parked in the driveway. We, also, might be the wittiest person alive as we take our time to come up with just the right words to put into our blogs, advertisements, and communications.
None of this matters when no one can see us, but when we venture out to meet with the Buyer it is a whole new story.
So do you have the time to groom yourself and put on professional attire?
Is there someone who can watch the baby and the pet while you go on your appointment?
Can the car be washed and the junk removed?
Do you have time to practice speaking instead of writing so that you do not fumble and stumble over words when talking to someone in person?
A strong internet presence may be necessary to get things started, but without a strong face to face presence, you may have trouble finishing anything that you start.
