Mother Lode Happenings
April 3-4, 2010
Wow! March went by fast. The great spring weather has me outdoors getting my garden ready for planting. Here are some fun things coming in April:
Railtown 1897 State Historic Park
Railtown in Jamestown will begin steam train operations for 2010 on Saturday and Sunday, April 3 and 4. Once under way, steam-powered excursion trains will depart on-the-hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekends through October. On opening weekend only, residents of Tuolumne and Calaveras counties ride for free with proof of residency. For more information, call 209-984-3953 or visit www.railtown1897.org.
Victorian Easter Celebration
The Columbia Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Victorian Easter Celebration on Sunday, April 4, in Columbia State Historic Park. The Victorian Easter Parade will begin at 12:30 p.m. and egg hunts will start at noon. All events are free. For more information call 209-536-1672 or visit www.columbiacalifornia.com.
We are so lucky to have two State Historic Parks located right here in Tuolumne County. So come on out, enjoy a train ride, put on a fancy Easter bonnet and support your local state parks!
