Last Minute - OOPS! All My CE Credits Are Not At DBPR!

Well, that is what I get for waiting for the last minute to get my CE credits for my license which is going to expired in just 5 days! WOW!

I am SO thankful for Real Estate School Online! They saved the day in the 11th hour!

What happened was that I took the SFR course for CE Credits a couple of months ago. When I counted my hours, i figured I needed one more class so I took a Contracts class which for some reason I just assumed would be considered CORE LAW.

So here I am 5 days before the deadline for my renewal going online to make my payment and renew my license. Wow, did my heart just jump into my stomach when the system said I was short 3 hours. I looked again and there were more than the required hours. Aha, then I noticed, I was short 3 CORE LAW hours.

What a bummer! Now I started scrambling. I went right to Bert Rogers Real Estate school online which is where I did my CE credits when my little one was a baby but they did not offer the 3 hour CORE LAW. They only offered the 14 hour course.

Good ol' Google to the rescue. Isn't it great that in a few seconds you can find what you need just by running a search on Google!

I found Real Estate School online. They do offer the CORE LAW course for 3 hours of CE credit for $10. So here I go!  That is what I will be doing for the next 3 hours! I did not check if they have courses for all the states but I did notice there were a lot more states than just Florida on their list of states.

If you are missing any CE credit hours see if maybe Florida Real Estate online school can help you get your hours in before it is too late.

See you after I get this done!

Katerina - Florida's CE system is different than Ontario in that you must take a specific number of hours in each of several prescribed topics.  In our case, we must take the specific number of hours in any of a number of listed topics without a minimum in any specific topic.

Katerina,

I am simply always taking the online 14-hour course, so that I do not have a headache with figuring out how many hours here and there.

And I am so happy that I have that on-line option.

If there's anything that cannot be found on Google, I haven't searched for it.

MD Commission recognizes only classroom CE.

In VA, we can do everything online, but I take the classes.  I enjoy them and meet and greet some wonderful real estate folks.

I think most of us at one time or another have had that heart sinking feeling realizing that something was missing to renew our license and we only had a few short hours to fix it. Thank you Google in your case.

We also can take our licensing course and the 22.5 hours of CE classes online. I haven't started my CE yet, but I will take the classes to be around other agents. It's less secluded, lol.

I tend to prograstinate on these things too, or do the work but somehow not get the hours to the DRE.

Thanks for the reminder and link, Katerina. My license is coming up for renewal in November, and I know the time to start gathering those credit units is now, but I probably won't do it. I'll probably start to panic in October, like everybody else whose license expires then, you think?

LOL, for some reason, you didn't stike me as someone who would wait until the last minute to do ANYTHING.  I'm one of those pathetic ones who took care of my 45 hours of CE 9 months ahead of my expiration date, coming up in September.

Everytime I have to do CE it is the 11th hour I think.  It is never fun but I guess it is necessary.

Hi Katerina. Ditto to comment #18. You don't strike me as someone who wouldn't notice because you have a handle on so many things including homeschooling. It's great that you've completed it though. At Pinellas Realtor ® Organization we can sit in the class and not have to take the exam. This year I opted for a class through Bob Hogue. They make it sooo easy.

Hi Katerina,

Although you can take a lot of the renewal courses on-line, I didn't feel I go that much out of them.  Maybe it was the way the courses were preseneted - I just don't know.  But if you have just five days and only 3 hours of classes to take - on-line is the way to go!   But as a rule, I take my classes in a classroom...just my preference.

LOL! Yes, I put off things I don't like to do:) I did have the bulk of it done a few months ago but then, well, I would rather work on the things that I love to do:)

Lana- Homeschooling takes planning and organizing but it is SO flexible. With my first 5 kids I was a drill sergeant but with my little one I do more student guided teaching. When he wants to learn about bats, we really get into it and then I turn the math into bat math, the science into science about bats and so on. I love it too because you retain so much more when you delve deep into a subject.

Damon- Same here. Perhaps if they made the CE classes more challenging and interesting I might apply earlier:)

Lenn- I like to sit in on class too, I did the first 11 hours that way in a SFR certification class. But with my little one, I'd rather do it online with him sitting next to me like last night, all cuddled up to me asking questions about what I was learning:)

I still have a bit more to do right now on the class and then take the exam tonight. I was just tooo tired last night to finish. Today right after church we had a Polo Event to attend to which will be my next big localism post.

On-line CE is perfect for all of us that are too busy, wait til the last minute, and prefer to work at odd hours.  I'm a fan!

I think on line is the most boring way to take CE classes, but useful at times. I still had 90 days remaining  and just gave up and took an on line course since nobody was offering the 1 remaining class. It was worth it just for the aggravation factor.
