Well, here we go gain, more new tech, will it catch on in the Real Estate industry, well time will tell.
The Apple IPAD will roll off store shelves starting April 3rd , 2010 only Days away, will you be in line to pick one up.
Lets take a look at what we know about it so far. Now, keep in mind the majority of people writing reviews and declarations of it's prowess or demise haven't seen it yet. So now I'll add my voice to the masses and no I haven't seen it yet either, but have read lots of information from other folks that probably have as much knowledge on the subject as anyone else out side of Apple.
Apple Corp. has always been a great marketer, they don't necessarily come to the table with the most innovative products, but you can be sure they are quality and will work well.
At first glance it appears the the IPAD is going to be an overgrown IPHONE, and yes it is running he same OS (operating system) but it is not a phone, possible more akin to the IPOD touch. However, Apple in their wisdom is also releasing a version of IWORKS (a word processor/ Spreadsheet and Presentation program) similar to MS-Office. This is going to open the IPAD to be a practical tool for the business community. If you take these apps in conjunction with a Bluetooth keyboard (any Bluetooth keyboard not just Apple's) and WIFI capability you now have quite a nice portable (Netbook?) or maybe portable tablet.
Now we're all aware there are thousands of low priced apps available at the Apple Appstore, and with the release of the IPAD there is soon to be more.
Lets go to work, your on the road you get a call on your cell phone to do a market analysis, your only a couple of miles away, so you stop by right away. You view the property and make a sketch on your IPAD, take measurements add them to your sketch. The Application calculates the Area of the home for you. Now while interviewing your client you are able to add further information and then flip to you Listing Presentation in the slide show using Keynotes (part of IWorks) on your IPAD. You can now utilize the WIFI to pull up your local MLS and get your comps enter them into your NUMBERS (Spreadsheet) and produce a Fair Market Value for the potential listing. Providing a prompt accurate and Professional Listing Presentation.
Now its just a matter getting signatures and posting it to the MLS, it should be possible to achieve all of this on your first visit. Just think all this technology in the palm of your hand and with the 10 inch screen easy for your client to view.
Now your all set for your next listing presentation. Sounds pretty slick, don't you think? Well minus a few apps that I'm sure will be out to tie you to your MLS and a good area calc app, the IPAD seems to be able to fit the bill for busy real estate agents.
Apples IPAD seems to be a slick easy solution to solve the portability required in the real estate industry and the fact that the new IWORKS suite of apps will also save in MS-WORD and EXCEL compatible formats, it really doesn't matter what type of computer you use at your office or home office.
So, will I see you in the Line-up for an IPAD on April 3rd??
