The "New" Squamish
For most, Squamish has long been thought of as the sleepy town that represents the half-way stopping point between Vancouver and Whistler. But for rock climbers, mountain bikers, windsurfers, and other adventure sports fanatics, Squamish was the secret spot offering un-crowded access to world-class thrills.
Now, with the 2010 Olympic Games only three years ahead, the improved highway access and the sky- rocketing real estate prices in the Lower Mainland are causing many people to take a fresh look at Squamish - and what they're seeing is blowing them away!

New businesses are moving in to accommodate the growing needs /variety/ includes international cuisine, organic shops, health-conscious, to big box stores such as Wal Mart, Home Depot, the Brick, Rona, Canadian Tire, etc. Quest University, London Drugs and a discount outlet centre are the next big projects scheduled to open their doors in Squamish in the next year or two.
