The best way to appreciate something you have is to sit down and write about it. This practice really makes you sit and appreciate what you have. I recently sat down and thought of why my family bought into the Hartstene Pointe development on Harstine Island. The best question to ask oneself is if we had a chance to do all over again, would it happen.
First, sitting in the Great room of our cabin is probably not the best place to sit and try to come up with negative things to say about Hartstene Pointe. Nine years of memories come to mind as I look about the room; oddly enough the good times always surface first as I enjoy my cup of coffee in front of the wood stove and panoramic view of Puget Sound.
This was not the first property we have bought at Hartstene Pointe, we bought a building lot in 1993 with grand plans to build a Cedar Chalet home as soon as we saved enough to buy the materials. When we found that we had enough to buy the kit for what we planned to build, we asked ourselves, "Shouldn't we look and see what else is available in a pre-owned cabin?" Our family had just lived through building a home and the fresh memorielse of delays and work order changes were not what we wanted when we thought of recreation. But we knew we wanted a cabin.
As a Realtor, I had all the information on all the homes and cabins available at Hartstene Pointe but it wasn't as easy as it may sound. My family had criteria as do any other of my clients but these were personal and were submitted 24 hours a day. We made an offer on a house and were firmly rejected; in fact the owner raised the listing price when she countered our offer. We moved on, as any buyer would when a project wasn't met to be.
Finally we found a cabin that met 80% of what everyone in our family wanted. We were tired of only visiting Hartstene Pointe and not be able to stay the night. After we had the home inspected and we closed the deal, it was time to make our house our home.
Would we do it all over again? You betcha! Does this help me deal with client concerns as they shop for recreational property? Without a doubt! Am I willing, able, and ready to help you find, buy, and close on your recreational or retirement property? Call me!
