Back in the very early seventies a Moncton civil engineering firm began development on a new subdivision off the Shediac Road as it approaches the Trans Canada Highway and Moncton city limits. The development was named Grove Hamlet and it offered larger lots for upscale homes. At the time the location was far from the Moncton sanitary sewer system so the developer had to install a sewage treatment lagoon. This lagoon remained for more than a decade until a major new trunk sewer line was built to service a growing industrial - commercial park. Then the subdivision was hooked into the trunk sanitary sewer line.

Today Gove Hamlet continues to expand with new building lots and new housing. The neighbourhood's proximity to Caledonia Industrial Estates, the Dieppe Industrial Park and the Greater Moncton International Airport makes it attractive to certain buyers.

The Grove Hamlet development began along the Shediac Road, a predominately residential artery. The housing closest to the Shediac Road is the oldest in the subdivision. The matured trees in this older area offer a special landscape not found in the newer area.

Housing in the Grove Hamlet neighbourhood is all detached style and prices range from 200k to just over 400k. Building lots are priced around 50k.

The Grove Hamlet neighbourhood is serviced by the Arnold H. McLeod Elementary School and the Lewisville Middle School and in addition features a large playground and park. Also the Humphrey's Brook section of Moncton's Millennium Trail system is nearby.

The Champlain Place shopping mall is located a short drive down to where the Shediac Road begins. And in case you are not familiar with the Moncton area, you can take the new Veterans Highway or the more scenic Shediac Road to the seaside Town of Shediac and the warmest beaches in Atlantic Canada. Shediac is just a twenty minute drive from the Grove Hamlet neighbourhood.
