30 Comments on It's a FIRST for me... my new listing has an OUTHOUSE!
Hi Janna! Classic North Idaho real estate. The great outhouses come with a view.
This certainly makes you a million dollar agent -- ha -- never had one with an outhouse before!
Janna, I actually owned a home with an outhouse in the backyard! The property had formerly been a park and it was no longer a potty but a shed!
I remember one of those when i lived overseas. Using it is not for the faint of heart.lol
What a wonderful post! Must be older property!
Thank you very much for sharing!
Adam
Love it, great photo! How are you stranger? I see it as a real feature to have that stuff way far away from the living areas.. :)
Off hand I would say having an outhouse is better than having no house at all!

Ahhh, great attitude and sense of humor. I was smiling, laughing and remembering as I read it. I can still see the beautifully painted baby blue outhouse that sat at the top of our yard as I was growing up in good old Mohnton, Pa. My sister told me that in later years it also became a storage area, but I will always remember it as the "Outhouse" which we were to utilize if outside.

Oh, I forgot to ask if this one is a "one-holer" or an upscale "2-holer"? It could increase the value.

Reminds of the time here in Oregon in the 1920's when my parents wanted to see rest rooms put in at the local county town elementary school (for the benefit of my three (much) older sisters).
The hue and cry from opponents was: You're going to completely spoil those kids...giving them at school what they don't have at home.
:-)
It was not that long ago that in rural Michigan (VERY rural) when "out-back" meant just that--if you were missing from the family for any length of time you were thought to be "out-back"...that was not that long ago, now that I think about it!! Boy, have we come a long way! Very humerous post--it is interesting that we all seem to forget that in the 50's and 60's these were still being used by most rural families, in one form or another. Today we see construction sites with "Port-a-potties" right there is plain sight and we don't think much about it---same thing isn't it???
I remember my grandmother had an outhouse. Not a great place! I can remember being afraid I would fall in.
Um, is that a gun port in the side wall of the outhouse?!?
Janna,
Thanks for keeping a sense of humor with this Listing! Does the outhouse still "work"?
Janna, haven't had a listing with an outhouse...too funny. Your attitude and personality seems to be able to handle this and any situation that comes your way.
janna, thats a riot. I haven't had thet experience yet.
Janna,
Thanks for sharing. This is hilarious. I love the comment of the gun window. Tere
Love it. Have been to a few properties myself with outdoor facilities.
This just proves that we all learn something new everyday. Just when you think you have seen it all, something pops up that is totally unexpected. My grandma's house in Asia had an outhouse and as a kid, it was pretty scary to go out especially at night.
It would be OK to leave that off my resume, sold a house with an outhouse in 2010.
