Ownership in the Kakela Makai subdivision includes the right to us the on site clubhouse, swimming pool, hot tub and mini gym. It is for the exclusive use for the residents and their guests. HOA dues are only $635.00 a year. Additionally Kakela Makai is located very close by to Kukuiolono Golf Course. This is a county owned 9 hole course. According to this web site Kukuiolono Golf Course green fees are $7.00 a day. (This is not a misprint).

 

Other benifits of owning in Kakela Makai is the size of the lots themselves. Under the Additional Dwelling Unit law the lots can qualify for 2 homes or living areas. This is allowed by the CC&Rs. However the lots can not be divided further. It would be appropraite to have a studio with a full kitchen over the garage. All house plan are required to have a design review approval before the issuance of a building permit insuring proper planning and quality.

Prices of Kakela Makai homes and lots have dropped in the past year due to the curent economy. 3 lots have already been foreclosed upon by One West Bank and quickly resold with great newer prices. Lot 79 on Kaena Street will also be coming on the market as an REO with Kauai Dreams Realty.

Julie, Looks like there are many options to choose from. A buyer can build on a lot or they can buy a home and move right in.  I have never been to Hawaii, but I hear that it's absolute paradise.
