Since Las Cruces and surrounding communities are so rich with American Indian culture, it only makes sense that crafts, dances, and music should kick-off American Indian Week starting on Monday. As part of American Indian Month, NMSU’s American Indian Program makes it a point to really celebrate the traditions and culture of all New Mexico’s American Indian Nations.
Cultural events ranging from art exhibits, demonstrations, and dance performances to a Parade of Nations and Miss Native American NMSU Pageant all begin Monday, April 5, and end Saturday, April 10. Two-time Grammy winner, Robert Mirabal, will be performing on April 8 at 6:30 pm in the Corbett Center Auditorium. Mirabal, born at Taos Pueblo, is an artist, musician, and author won Grammy Awards for Best Native American Music Album and Artist of the Year.
