Using Mobile Technology to Engage

The world is getting more mobile. First is becoming more valuable than best and as a result we must learn to use these tools more efficiently. Why? Because one hangs on the belt on most of our clients.

Face it, we have evolved. Those who can remember when computers filled a room (yeah me) are just amazed at how fast mobile technology has grown. According to a report I read back in 2009, tech cycles tend to last 10 years and the mobile cycle has taken over in less than two.

Here are two tips on some tools that can help you communicate more effectively with your clients.

No. 1 - Is your website mobile enabled? Try this. Visit your website or your company’s website with your smartphone. Does your website recognize the browser? Does it know you are visiting from a mobile device and creating a mobile experience?

For example, it if I visit www.delta.com with my blackberry it automatically brings me to a mobile version, so I can check flights, check in. The mobile site aas easy to use screens that I can handle when I am “mobile.”

Delta Mobile

Just like making sure your website shows up properly in Internet Explorer, or Firefox you should be showing up on the mobile browsers as well.

No. 2 - The number one way to communicate with younger clients is texting, so are you proficient?

Try practicing with Google SMS. To use Google SMS, just text the word "help" to 466453 (GOOGLE) or visit the site at www.google.com/sms/ to learn more.

In a nutshell – you can send a text message to Google. They use a short code with is not a full ten digit number but “Google” spelled out in numbers. So for example I sent a text message to Google. It saidGoogle Mobile

To: 466453

Message: Sushi 06489

And this is what I got back:

When you need to look up information it is easy to use, cheaper than 411 and just don’t do it when you are driving :)

Voice to Text technology is getting better every day.

For those of you who like to text but would rather use voice to text consider using products like

Both programs convert your voice into emails, text messages, reminders, lists and appointments. Not only can you use your VOICE to TEXT but every text message or email that you send is documented in your email.

All you do is sign up for an account, add all the people you want to send messages to. Call the phone number supplied and JOTT recognizes your cell phone number and asks you who you want to JOTT. You can JOTT to your email to leave yourself messages, set reminders and do blog posts and twitter posts.
