The 2010 Phillies appear to be poised to continue their dominance in the National League. Still smarting from their World Series loss to the Bronx Bombers(whoops, Yankees, not a terrorist group), GM. Ruben Amaro has made a couple of impressive tweaks .
The Fightins offense is as dangerous as ever with Jimmy Rollins at the top. New thirdbaseman Polanco is a contact and hit & run specialist manning the two hole. Next comes Chase"you are the man" Utley, followed by former MVP Ryan Howard( a sure bet for 40+ HR's). Jayson Werth,Raul Ibanez and the flyin Hawaiian Shane Victorino are enough to send any pitcher to an early shower ! And Carlos Ruiz has become both a dependable hitter and great handler of pitchers. The Phil's bench is also loaded with talented and team oriented role players.
The pitching staff looks solid with the acquisition of new ace Doc Halladay. He is thought to be one of the top 3 in the game . The whole season could hinge on the incredibly goodlooking and talented lefty Cole Hammels. He has shown glimpses of just how dominant he can be. Innings eater Joe Blanton holds the 3rd spot and last year's top rookie Jay Happ rounds out the top 4. The fifth starters' job was just won by 47 year old ageless wonder and changeup specialist Jamie Moyer ! All eyes are on bullpen ace Brad Lidge as he tries to reclaim his 2008 excellence. Ryan Madison is one of the leagues top set up men. J.C.Romero appears healthy and Chad Durbin should bonce back. Additionally it's a deep pen with newcomers Baez and Contreras.
Finally back at the helm is everyone's favorite manager (Uncle) Charlie Manuel, who has slimmed down losing nearly 40 lbs. since last season. He knows how to keep the team loose, not to panic in mini slumps and handle star athletes. I don't know about you , but I'd plan on another Fall Classic at Citizens Bank Park next October ! Go Phils !
