Ellensburg is becoming more and more a commuter town. My Sister and her husband are having a home built there, and he will be commuting to Factoria.

That would have sounded crazy to me when I was living in Issaquah years ago. But now that I live in Wenatchee and can't handle heavy traffic anymore, it makes sense to me.  My Brother-in-Law can hop on I-90 with no traffic and be at the office in just over an hour (mostly at 70MPH). I'm one who believes that 40 minutes in traffic is a lot more stressful than twice that time on open roads.

And once he's home, its small town living on several acres with open views.  It's not for everybody, but more and more people are doing the same thing from Ellensburg, Cle Elum, Roslyn, and Suncadia.

If you are looking for Ellensburg Real Estate, I like Craig Smith. He knows the market and can show you even down to the topsoil and water rights why one area is better than another.  It's not just which house looks prettiest.

Anyone who loves the outdoors and can tele-commute ought to be looking all over Eastern Washington, there are great opportunities for rural or small town living.  Does your town have a rodeo?

We are seeing a little bit of that in Leavenworth. I know a lot of firefighters who work in departments in Everett and Seattle and live in Leavenworth. They don't need to do the commute every day, so it makes even more sense for them.

Darel,  We are so spoiled here.  I remember when I moved out to the Cove at Turtle Rock, just six miles north of East Wenatchee.  People thought I was crazy for that long commute.  Isn't that silly?

We never did get together for coffee.  Maybe after school starts back up, Shelley and I will be more flexible to meet you some morning.
