Free Photos - Best Sites for Free Photos

I am very visual and I want a photo in every post I do. But sometimes I don't have one that will work or I just don't have the time to go out and get one. But I won't use photos or images that are copyright protected. So where can we get free images that we have the right to use? There are many posts here that talk about them. But as I have talked with several people that don't know where to get ones, I decided another one was in order. So here is a list of sites for images. There are plenty more out there, but I think this should get you started.

Stock.xchng - I use this for most of my images that are not mine. I can find all sorts of great photos here. Most are free, a few just require that you notify the owner of the photo. Link back and attribution required.

Free Foto - Link back and attribution required. Check out their great photos; they have 109,837 images. These are free for on-line use only.

Flickr - Jeff Turner has covered Flickr in great details on his post "Free Photos At The Flickr Of A Mouse".

Yotophoto -has over a 500,000 images. This is a clearing house of images from different sites. Including Flickr, Stock.xchng, Freefoto, and Wikimedia commons. I just found this one. It includes several I use, but all in one convenient spot. KISS Principle.

Istockphoto - These photos are not free, but subscribe to their newsletter and get access to free stuff every week-such as the one I have used here. (first photo)

NM Rocks Image Chef - Maggie Dokic has a great post that shows what this site does. Trust me, this is cool!

Don't know how to put a photo into your post? Kristal Kraft has a great post on that as well as "How to add pictures in your blog".

Thanks for the post -- I've been using istockphoto which has lots of great photos on every subject but has a small cost -- I'll check out the other sites.

great resource list ... but always read the permitted use and licensing. Usually you cant' use "free" photos on real estate web sites.

Larry - I agree it is always important to check the license usage allowed. I have never had a problem with stock.xchng and I have contacted several of the photographers regarding my use and so far they have all been great with it. But usage allowed can vary so it a good idea to make sure if you are unclear.

Ashley - Cyndee tends to be our picture pro - but now saving money - that's got my interest - so thanks for helping my wife (and me) save some money - I'm not sure I'll ever see it but the local shops will thank you! (LOL)
