Westerville and Gahanna on Top 100 US Cities List

OhioCNNMoney.com recently honored 100 Small Cities in the US as Top Cities:

"Best places to live   Best Places to Live: Top 100

"For this year's list we focused on smaller places that offered the best combination of economic opportunity, good schools, safe streets, things to do and a real sense of community"

Included were two Central Ohio cities, Westerville and Gahanna.  I wrote about it on ColumbusBestBlog.com a few days ago - Westerville and Gahanna in top 10 US Cities (Small Cities.)

Westerville is number 46 in the 100 Best Cities in the US on the CNNMoney.com list.

Gahanna is number 96 in the 100 Best Cities in the US on the CNNMoney.com list.

Westerville and Gahanna are suburbs on the northeast side of Columbus, outside of 270.   Watch videos from Real Living about each of these communities.

"Gahanna - Columbus, OH. Traditional, diverse and family-oriented are some of the words that describe Gahanna."

"Westerville - Columbus, OH. Westerville has many historical homes and an abundance of specialty shops and other attractions."

Business First of Columbus said of the CNNMoney.com focus in 2007:

"The magazine focused this year on smaller cities with populations between 7,500 and 50,000, leaving out Columbus, last year's eighth-ranked best big city in which to live. Criteria this year included education scores, crime rates, cost-of-living data, housing affordability, racial diversity and health-care access. "

There is a list of 10 Best Big Cities, with the usual suspects... NYC, Chicago, Philadelphia, California Cities.

Gahanna and Westerville are more affordable than Worthigton, New Albany, Powell, Bexley and many other Columbus suburbs.

Columbus was on the list last year, but the focus last year was on bigger cities.  Columbus is dinky as a big city kinda sorta but much bigger than these cities.

There are other lists in the CNNMoney.com article such as most affordable places, there is a "place" in Central Ohio that I thought of as a neighborhood.  Reading Wikipedia to see if it was a city or a neighborhood I found out what it is... but I can't remember the official  term for what it is.  It's a census area, basically.  It is in two unincorporated areas, townships with a huge development from the 1970's which is one of CNNMoney.com's most affordable places. It is on the far south end of Franklin County so I don't want to encourage anyone to contact me about it... outside of my area of expertise.. and darn at those prices I could not afford the gas to drive there.

thanks for the comment
