Enough with the doom and gloom

Enough with the doom and gloom.

We are constantly being bombarded by the media and even here on Active Rain about the state of the economy.  Unemployment is at an all time high, 25% of all home owners are underwater and the list goes on.  I am not niave and don't deny any of these facts but, there is always more than one way to look at the situation.

Fact:  Here in West Michigan the unemployment rate is 15%.  Doesn't that mean that 85% of us are still working?

Fact:  25% of all home owners are underwater.  Doesn't that mean 75% are not?

Which side of the facts do you look at?

Last year I heard a lot of agents complaining about the housing market being in the tank.  Guess what? So were their sales.

Some of us felt the market was down but, there were sales to be had.  Guess what?  Some of our sales increased along with the 5% increase in sales in our area.

Do you actually, unknowingly project your mindset into your business practices?

Are you your own worst enemy?

I say enough with the doom and gloom.

I don't do all of the doom & gloom.  I say, face the facts, don't pretend things are something they are not.  Then put on your BIG GIRL PANTIES AND GET ON WITH IT.

Your are right, if we look hard enough, we can find good in everything. We all need to be positive.

I still have a business because I plan based on facts.  I do not put my head in the sand and think positive and do nothing.

Great post...and so important to see the positives not the negatives....Sometimes ignorance is bliss...especially if it is going to give you the wrong mind set!!!

Think good things and good things will happen!

Roy, focus on the positive; focus on the solution.  The glass is not half full - it is full!  Eighter way you look at something you are right.  Attitude does determine altitude.  Hope to meet you some day!

Tim, I do not put my head in the sand at all.  The market is what it is.  Face it, deal with it and get on with it. My business plan reflects it.  Did I want to deal with all the short sales and foreclosures?  No, but I have and others haven't.  Now they are, after seeing how busy I have been.

I am referring to the fact that so many people focus on the negative that their whole being becomes negative.  That affects everything they do.  It is all a mindset.
