Interviewer: Hi, I'm Kathy Soltero with Metro Brokers TV. Today in our studio we are pleased to have with us broker owner, Tom Guest. He is with Key Masters Real Estate and Tom, thanks very much for coming into talk with us today.
Tom Guest: You're welcome.
Interviewer: Tell us a little bit about Key Masters Real Estate, your company and the brokers in it.
Tom Guest: Key Masters Real Estate was formed about two years ago in Highlands Ranch. We do residential real estate and also relocation and we have five brokers who work for us.
Interviewer: And you have quite a bit of experience, but you've been with Metro Brokers how long?
Tom Guest: Been with Metro Brokers for about two years. I have 17 years experience selling real estate in Colorado.
Interviewer: And in two years, you are now the President or the incoming President for the Board of Directors, but that's a lot to accomplish in this short amount of time. Tell me about the Board of Directors.
Tom Guest: Yeah, I serve on the Board of Directors and I was elected to that in 2009 and there is about 13 Board of Directors and they guide Metro Brokers through the various stages of what we do in the real estate with Metro Brokers. I was elected as President-Elect for 2011 and serve on various committees. I'm on the membership committee. And at Metro Brokers we have many brokers who serve on these committees and volunteer. Metro Brokers was formed in 1976, formed by six brokers with kind of a common goal to work together and that's what we truly are, independent companies working together.
Interviewer: And so we have a lot of other different committees as well, can you talk about some of those committees?
Tom Guest: Sure.
Interviewer: And how people are involved in it?
Tom Guest: Sure. Well, we have member committee. We also have technology committee for our computers and IT, serving our members, our brokers. We also have a marketing committee and they put together the ads and the direction and what we're going to put on TV and all our advertising.
Interviewer: How is Metro Brokers different than other real estate companies?
Tom Guest: Metro Brokers is unique because it offers a unique advantage for someone who is starting the business. They can come on as an associate broker and, as they get experience, they can become an independent broker and shareholder and form their own company. They can also become an independent employing broker and hire an agent such as I have. After that, they can form their own company and become Metro Brokers office and they can stay under the same sign. They never have to leave the Metro Brokers sign.
Interviewer: So how is that sort of different from other companies?
Tom Guest: Well, most other companies you don't have that opportunity to be in control of your own destiny. You don't have the opportunity of forming your own company and you work for a single company, you can stay there, you pretty much do your own business. But in Metro Brokers you can grow. You can grow in advance and you are in control of your own future.
Interviewer: Where do you see the future of Metro Brokers going?
Tom Guest: I see the Metro Brokers brand expanding. We are in Fort Collins, Grand Junction, Colorado Springs and we have opened several offices in the Denver Metro area. Metro Brokers has the best brand out there. We do offer agents the ability to control their own future and I think that's important. That's something that is very unique. Metro Brokers, whether the market goes up or down, Metro Brokers would be in everyone's future.
Interviewer: Well you do see a lot of advertising on TV, through the social media, and that sort of thing, and that's how the brokers are really getting the word out about our company?
Tom Guest: It is. We are very aggressive in all media, social media and you will see our advertisements on TV.
Interviewer: And I think we compete as far as listings and sales and that sort of thing, with even some of the other more recognized brands or...?
Tom Guest: Well, I think Metro Brokers Online is one of the best websites out there that offers the ability to search for properties and serve the buyers in Colorado.
Interviewer: And through MetroBrokersTV.com.
Tom Guest: Exactly.
