Finding the right neighborhood is very important it is just as important as finding the right house and hopefully you find the right house in the right neighborhood. As you search for a home, you may come across your perfect house, but it is in a neighborhood that you do not like. With this said, you should keep a few things in mind when trying to find the complete package.

Ask yourself the question of what is it that you are looking for in a neighborhood. If you have  kids, you might want a kid friendly neighborhood that is safe. Maybe a neighborhood that is near parks, schools, and other necessary establishments.

Once you have found a neighborhood that you really like, you then want to research it. Maybe go and ask neighbors that are living there already what their thoughts are and how they like it. You can also ask your real estate agents for recommendations or information on that particular neighborhood.

You definitely want to visit the neighborhood and drive through it and get a feel for it. This will help give you a better idea for yourself regardless of what others have said about the neighborhood.

Now, if you find the perfect neighborhood, you need to find your perfect house in that neighborhood. You may have the perfect neighborhood but you may have problems in finding a house in that neighborhood. This can happen, however if you do not find the "perfect house", you should ask yourself again, what your needs vs. wants are in regards to a house. If you can't  find your perfect house in your perfect neighborhood, you may want to visit other neighborhoods and compare not only the neighborhoods, but the houses in them. Hopefully this helps you to find the perfect package.

Good tip for future homeowners.  I also recommend to my clients to drive thru the neighborhood at many different times of the day and over the weekends.  This gives them some sense of what it is like living in the neighborhood and what to expect (ie loud music, cars on the street, etc.) Thanks for your back to basis recommendations.
