If you are looking for a Retirement-manufactured home community FL-Cypress Greens-Lake Alfred FL, look no further!
We looked at tons of retirement communities before we moved to Florida, and this one was by far our favorite in Polk County FL.
Every one we went to seemed to drop you onto a major highway at the gate. We're country bumpkins and didn't like that at all! Finally we went to this one. AS we were driving, my husband said, "We're going out into the country. This can't be right! Look at those directions again." Just then we saw Evenhouse Road. BINGO!
We passed a school and an orange grove as we went up the hill. We turned into the development (which is leased land-- not deeded) and rode around. We liked what we saw. Only 264 lots and not planned to expand! Many communities of this type here are HUGE-- 1000 or more homes.
On one side it borders the University of Florida citrus groves-- a research center, so it won't be going anywhere. The rest of the property and golf course is bordered by a fence along country roads.

9-hole golf course, pro shop, and putting green
7000 sq ft Spanish style Clubhouse with fitness center, billiards room, ballroom, television and card room, library, fully-equipped kitchen, outdoor grill, and community deck
heated swimming pool
tennis court -- you will see it referred to as "lighted" but it really is not. I know for certain as I ride by it several times every day and my husband plays on it! As you can see from the photos, as of 4/1/10, there are no lights. There is also a shuffleboard court.
My favorite part about living here is that I am no further than a half hour from Lakeland for shopping and dining, or from Walt Disney World for entertainment.
I'd also like to mention that I do not hold a license to sell any of the homes in Cypress Greens. They are considered personal property and not real estate. I'm blogging about this community for several reasons: I live here. I have many friends living here. It's a great place to retire.
There are many homes in here that are for sale by owner as well as being sold by companies who are licensed to sell these homes. There are even some empty lots so you can choose your own model!
