Windy Hill, Portola Valley, CA

At The Sequoias one can enjoy the putting green, swim in the indoor pool, garden to one's heart's delight, and engage with interesting neighbors. Hiking and walking at the adjacent Windy Hill Open Space Preserve is a treat for many who enjoy the natural beauty and peaceful surroundings of the area. The Sequoias sponsors on-site: an education lecture series, "Music at 4:00," Friday evening entertainment and and a Farmer's Market. One can also drive or ride in the free shuttle bus to nearby education and cultural centers of Stanford University, Palo Alto, Menlo Park and other Peninsula towns.

Various levels of care include residential apartment living, assisted living when some help is desired, and a skilled nursing center. The Life Care agreement assures that you can move from an apartment to a higher level of care in the community without an increase in the monthly fee. That peace of mind is greatly appreciated by many!

Sounds like a great place to live for seniors.....I like the idea of transportation to nearby Stanford....that's terrific.

Hi Barbara -- yes, the location is great; very peaceful surrounded by natural beauty, yet so close to the rich cultural opportunities at Stanford University, Menlo College, downtown Palo Alto. When one doesn't wish to drive, or can't drive, the shuttle bus is great.

Kathy, I wish I had pictures to post. The complex is very understated, with primarily one- and a few two-story buildings nestled into the landscape. One of the attractions here is the bucolic setting with the grandeur of some of the other choices for Senior living. Check out the link to their web site: you'll find a few pictures, and a few videos.

Lottie - looking at the picture I would be more prone to call it old baldy instead of windy hill.

Kathy, that would be an apt name, too. But--I have hiked up it many a time with the wind howling at top--on the far side the land drops down to the west and the Pacific Ocean. It's a gorgeous spot.
