Rant..... Well I guess I am not done for the day. I have something to say about part time agents.

I classify part time agents as agents that do not give their full attention to real estate as a job. Maybe they have another job. Maybe they have a family and this is extra income.( before you crucify me, I have two kids and a wife)  Maybe this is their only income and they can not seem to get out of bed before noon.

You give the professional real estate agents a bad name. You blemish the profession.

This work on the weekend, sorry I have another job ,call you later crap is just getting to me.

I have an offer for a home that your Aunt Bessie owns. She gave you the listing because you are related by blood.I want to present this offer, but you and your schedule of "your job" and your kids practice is keeping me from doing my job.Presenting an offer my client has made in a timely manner. When I can not do this...YOU MAKE ME LOOK BAD!

Well I say no more! Please recuse yourselves from listing houses, accepting buyers. Your unprofessional, fumble through the transaction mentality makes us all look bad. Next time refer your Aunt Bessie to a full time agent. I guarantee the transaction will go smoother for the agents involved, but more importantly the buyer and the seller. You will make a referral fee and you wont look like a bumbling idiot!

Once again I am using this space to vent my frustrations. Please forgive!

Hey Barry!

I am a Professional Full time Realtor, but, I do take offense at the family part.  Yes, I do have a family, and yes, I do put my family first.  Does that delay getting your offer presented?  Maybe for a few hours.  You WILL get to present your offer, but, I do NOT infringe on plans that my family has made.  Family time is VERY important to me!  I do not think that my spending time in the evening with my family is ANY kind of blemish on our industry.  It actually is quite the opposite, when I tell clients I can't do something with them at that appointed time, and tell them why, everyone to a "T" is understanding, and grateful.

That does not mean all real estate agents with families...only the ones who seem to be constantly on  vacation, or home with the kids all summer...etc,,. If you make the commitment to represent a client...you should do that.

Painting all part-time agents with same brush? Be fair, there must be some good PT agents out there. BTW, I am full-time so I have no personal interest in this matter. I do know full-time agents with the same traits!

Of course I am not painting them all with the same brush. If they treat it like a profession, and not a side job it makes all the difference. Like I said, there are full time agents that treat it like a hobby also.

Barry, I don't buy what you are saying here. I am a full-time REALTOR® who has seen experienced full-time agents make all of us look bad. The part-time ones may not always be available but the ones I have met are professional, honest and effective. Your rant would be better directed to the fossils who continue to do things the way they've always done them regardless that rules and regulations have changed.
