The toilet paper passage is alive and well. The kid's popularity is waving in the wind.

Remember getting rolled?  By toilet paper?  You get up and your mom and dad are cussin' and fussin' about the mess in your yard and how you're going to have to clean it up?

You look out and pretend to be furious but secretly your little heart is pumping because you've been selected!  You're popular!!  The gang remembered you on Saturday night and left toilet paper all over the front yard!!

I'm calling it the toilet paper passage (we could call it message) and it is alive and doing well in my neighbor's yard.  It's more fun as a parent to see it across the street.

Happy Easter to everyone on activerain and to the happy kids across the street from me.

Barbara, I remember when my Son thought it was cool having to remove toilet paper from a twenty foot tree. Happy Easter to you and your family.

Barbara, LOL, I am sure it is far more enjoyable to be looking at it from across the street. Somehow I missed that rite of passage!

Happy Easter!

Diane, were you the participant or the recipient?  LOL

Paul, I'm glad you were captured.

Michael, I knew lots of people would remember.

Andrea, I missed it for myself.....too old.  But my kids went through it as I observed.  In fact, my husband and I were "rolled" probably accidentally because of the new kids next door.  It was small and I blogged abut it but because of our obnoxious messages on activerain right now, I couldn't get to it to link.

Barbara,

Nutsy is ready to go on this. He is very offended that this would happen near your house.

Hey Steven and Godson Nutsy,  I think the culprits are known to the folks next door.  In fact, as stated in the blog, the kids are probably pleased as punch that they were targeted.  All has been picked up except what is in the high trees.  Oh! Nutsy, you'd be good at getting that down!!  Come on out to Arkansas!!!

I think "toilet-papering" is a cultural thing.  When we lived in south Texas our church youth group decided to toilet paper our house.  Our Peruvian neighbor told them to leave and wrote down their license plate numbers.  He then notified us that we may want to call the police.  He was quite concerned that someone must not like us one bit!  We tried to explain to him that the kids were our friends and it was okay, but he still thought we should report it.  I recently heard a friend tell a similar story about his hispanic neighbor.

Hi Barbara!
Can you indulge me in a TP story?
My son has friends of every nationality and they are very close. One night he came to me and said that they wanted to TP several girls in his junior class in high school.  I said that I really didn't khow...but if some TP disappeared, I wouldn't ask any questions. Needless to say, they disappeared soon after.  Now, one young man is of color.  They were out at about 10PM.  This young man's parents (very nice very strict parents). They showed up at my door to pick him up...and right behind them came a police car out of which came their son and another friend.  I think I just wanted to die! It turns out the boys had ducked behind a bush when the police drove by...and got caught. Until the other boy spoke up and said they were together, the police were ready to haul them to jail!  The parents were very nice and explained to me that their son just couldn't be wandering around at night in our neighborhood.  I was so sad...it hadn't even occured to me. But, to this day, I also see the humor in the general situation!

Angela, I'm sure that someone not familiar with our customs would think it terrible to see somone throwing stuff all over the neighbor's yard.  I wonder what I'd do if I were watching out the front window as kids were rolling a house.  Should I call the neighbor and say go stop them or should I just rotflmao?  LOL

Paula, that is a sad story really.  It shows how quick the guys of other colors can be accused of something or hauled off to jail on a suspicion of doing something wrong.  They really are not safe to walk down the streets at night.  How nice of your son to be friendly and kind to everyone and see no color.  I wish everyone were like him.

Bob, that's funny!  Activerain is acting up so terribly that comments don't upload, blogs are hard to get to and I'm slowing down some on the blogging bit until they get it worked out.  After nine at night you may as well foret activerain.  Stick around though, because your comments are always great!
