There you can find not only a great selection of plants, large and small, but one of the best garden railroad layouts in all of San Diego County.

Dutchman's pipeIn their outdoor nursery, you'll find big plants to create instant mature landscaping as well as bedding plants, seasonal plants, cactus and succulents, and native plants.

I even bought a Dutchman's pipe (see mine blooming in picture at right) at Walter Andersen Nursery, something you rarely see in a nursery.

There is also a huge selection of indoor plants, pots, fertilizers, water plants, bog plants, meat-eating plants, roses, air plants, palms, ferns, orchids, trellises, and much, much more.

At the front of the store, there is a large display of free informational flyers about all types of gardening subjects. Some of the ones that I have brought home include:

Walter Andersen Nursery in Poway is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Hi Jim, Wonderful article and photos of what appears to be a wonderful nursery!  I enjoy spending time just walking through a couple of nurseries about a 45 minute drive from us, and next time I'm up there, I'll have to see if I can prepare a post almost as nice as yours.
