Crockett Park is the crown jewel in the Brentwood, TN park system. Covering more than 164 acres, this park is home to open meadows, nature trails, miles of paved walking/biking/jogging trails, 8 multi-purpose fields, 7 lighted tennis courts, 8 lighted ball diamonds, and a huge playground for children of all ages.
The Brentwood, TN park system acquired the 160 acres that makes up the bulk of the park system in 1991 at a cost of $1.1M. Construction to develop the park began in 1992 and phase one was completed in 1993. The same year, the Cool Springs house and the Gatlin Log House were donated to the City and moved to their current locations. The City also won international honor for citizen involvement in the Parks Master Plan.
In 1995, the "State-of-the-Art", Eddie Arnold Amphitheater was opened and held it's first concert. Named after the legendary singer/songwriter, the amphitheater is home to the annual "Concert in the Park" series. These free concerts are open to the public, and hosts the Nashville Symphony and other groups. The genre of performers is sure to satisfy anyone's taste in music. Crockett Park, is now home for the annual 4th of July fire works display. These were formally held behind the Cadillac dealership in the Maryland Farms office district. A live concert at the Eddie Arnold Amphitheater precedes the display and the musical accompaniment makes one feel proud to be an American.
