I came across this recipe months ago and have been drooling over it ever since. Waiting for an occasion to bake it. Today seemed like such a time. A pleasant, low key Easter. No big gathering or extended family festivities, but I decided to set a pretty table and cook a nice meal, just for us! The sun surprised us and made an appearance for most of the day which had been forcasted to be overcast, with rain and snow!
In the past I have posted some of my favorite family recipes to my blog with great response. After all I don't JUST sell real estate! So when this pretty cake came out of the oven I snapped a picture in anticipation of posting the recipe for you all to enjoy.
There it sat, beautiful and beckoning, through dinner until time for dessert arrived. With eager anticipation I took my first bite and was so DISAPPOINTED! It was okay. Ho hum. Mediocre. Nothing that was worthy of my high expectations. It was beautiful on the outside, but a let down once I got a taste in my mouth.
And so it goes. Sometimes we are pleasantly surprised with the unexpected and unanticipated. And sometimes we are faced with disappointment and unmet expectations. But nothing ventured, nothing gained. At least the cake was pretty as a picture!
