Baltimore's Tartan Hill: Voted The Most Beautiful Neighborhood in Perry Hall

I was sitting in my living room and talking to a friend on the phone as I described my house to her.  From where I was sitting, I could see every room, with the exception of my master bedroom.  No this was not a Manhattan warehouse flat with brick outer walls and no inner walls.  This is one of the 1980s contemporary houses which was built in the neighborhood of Tartan Hill.

The living room has a vaulted ceiling which opens to the upper hallway, which only has a railing to divide it from the room below.  The upper bedrooms and baths, of course, all have doors for privacy, but they all lead to the loft like hall.  The family room is sunken from the living room by about two steps and separated by another railing.  To my right and past the open foyer, is my country sized kitchen, with the dining room just to its right.

The neighborhood of 89 homes has six models, with the one described above being the most popular.  Two more traditional designs include a colonial style and a split level.

When the homes were built, the goal was to leave as many of the mature trees as possible.  When the construction was complete, the streets were lined with Bradford Pear trees.

With much of the original trees still standing, with a bit of landscaping with shrubs and flowers by the new homeowners, and with a very caring community the new development quickly became one of Perry Hall's favorite neighborhoods and was, in fact, voted as its most beautiful.

Besides its beauty, Tartan Hill is in a very convenient area with White Marsh Mall, The Avenue at White Marsh, and several other shopping and entertainment areas around the Greater Perry Hall region.

This northeast section of Baltimore County, in an effort to maintain sprawl, was targeted as an area for residential growth and has quickly become one of the most desireable areas in the entire Greater Baltimore Region.  Its schools consistently rank among the best.

Ron,

It is nice when the trees are left behind.  It takes so long for a cleared development to look natural again.
