Neighbourhood Watch - Wedgewood Creek - Oakville Real Estate

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Real Estate Centre Inc., Brokerage

The neighbourhood of Wedgewood Creek began growing in North East Oakville in the mid 1980's right in the midst of the new home building boom.  Farmer's fields and riding stables became subdivisions of mostly two storey, detached brick homes with double car garages.

The Queen Elizabeth Highway is a natural division between north and south Oakville.  By the 1980's there was nowhere left for Oakville to grow south of the QEW. so buyers discovered what North Oakville had to offer.  Some areas such as Falgarwood and College Park were already established but north of Upper Middle Road was open to new growth.  Wedgewood Creek, Oakville homes, Jenny Kotulak, Oakville real estate, Valleybrook Park

Wedgewood Creek has matured like fine wine and it is a much sought after area due to the accessibility of all major highways for commuters who work in Toronto and beyond.  Popular schools are in place and the Iroquois Ridge Recreation Centre is home to the neighbourhood library, pool, community rooms and fitness centre.

Upper Oakville Shopping Centre offers many stores and amenities and Oakville Place Mall is just a few minutes away by car or bus.  Sheridan College is also nearby and offers many popular programs allowing local students to live at home and continue their education.

Many homes in Wedgewood Creek back onto parks or ravines.  There are plenty of trails and man made storm water ponds.  Homes in the area range from approximately 2000 square feet to over 3500 square feet.  Most homes offer 4 bedrooms with ensuites off the master, walk-in closets, main floor family rooms with fireplaces and main floor laundry facilities, many with an inside entrance to the garage.

As homes in Wedgewood Creek are now hitting the 20+ year range many have seen recent upgrades and renovations.  Windows, shingles, furnaces and air conditioning units are all reaching their live expectancies and many homes now boast new kitchens and bathrooms.

All of these upgrades make this area even more desirable for those who don't want to tackle the renovations themselves.  Updated homes in Wedgewood Creek are selling very close to list price with some selling over list price with multiple offers.

Hi Wanda - we lived in Wedgewood Creek for over 15 years so the kids never moved schools.  We lived in dirt when we first moved in.  It was nice to get grass, then fences, then trees.

Hi Jon, If you come and visit I will take you around to see if you remember the names lol.  And I will come and visit you and we don't have to go anywhere except sit on the beach or a balcony overlooking the beach like the one you showed us last week.

Hi Fred, Thanks.  It's easy to write about an area that has lots to offer.
