The Jewel Box in Capitola, CA-A Great Place for both Children and Adults
I moved to the Jewel Box in Capitola, CA when my two kids were in New Brighton Midddle School and Soquel High School. I found this a great place for both my kids and for myself to have allot of fun and to have access to everything.
Of course the beach was the main attraction. 
The Jewel Box sits on the cliffs above Capitola Village and borders the river that the Shadowbrook Restaurant is on. It's called the Jewel Box because all the streets are named, Emerald, Ruby, Diamond, Garnet, Jade, Jewel, and Topaz. The house that I owned back then was on the corner of Emerald and 49th Ave. Prospect Ave is the best street it is on the cliff above the railroad tracks with the biggest ocean views.

In the summer time you can hear the music from the top of the Wharf House Restaurant. There is even a house on Prospect called "A Sandy's Place" and I had always wanted to just go inside. Well as it turns out my boyfriend is related to the owner named Uncle Lee. It's named"A Sandy Place". He still keeps the house in it' original decor and visits every weekend.
Capitola has the Junior Lifeguard program nicknamed “Team Tola”. My kids went every year to both sessions and had allot of good friends that they have grown up with and I had met the parents on the “Parent Club” like a PTA for school. They have fun and games on the beach all day and they all have on their red swim suits.
There is a community center called Jade Street Park where my son could go play basketball with his friends after school. We even used the baseball diamond a few times for informal baseball for the adults.
Up-todate list of homes for Sale in Capitola, CA 
The homes in the Jewel Box are on same lots and usually two stories to get enough square footage. Here is an example of a home that is for sale and it includes the furniture! It is 4 Bedrooms and 3 bathrooms 1849 SF on a 3485 SF lot was built in 2005.I especially like the back yard patio with the fireplace and built in kitchen BBQ. Is priced to sell at $1,199,950.
