If you want to have a day of exploring, then come to Emerson Point in Palmetto Florida.  There are many hiking trails and lots of things to discover.  It is also a great way to just get away and relax for the day.  I created a slide show of just a few things you can see there while visiting Emerson Point in Palmetto Florida.

Emerson Point is located on the West side of Palmetto right on the bay on Snead Island.  As you can see by the pictures, it has some incredible views, but it also contains a lot of history.  It was interesting to read about the people who lived there earlier and see the remains of the chimney and cistern of their homestead. 

The walk-paths are clearly marked so you won't get lost.  I haven't gone up to the viewing tower yet, I will do that on the next trip when it is a bit cooler.  The day we went and took these photos it was very hot so we decided to come back another time to do the serious hiking.

So if you are looking for some good walking paths, a good place to fish or just a place to get away from it all and have a picnic, then check out Emerson Park in Palmetto Florida, I don't think you will be disappointed.
