The Scenery and Homes of Mt Helix-- Cottages and Gazebos-- this is Part 2 of the series which will take you on a picture tour of one of the most intriguing neighborhoods in all of San Diego County.
Mt Helix is located on the far eastern edge of La Mesa CA 91941; part of this community resides within San Diego County and the rest is within the city of La Mesa. Either way, it's a lush, green, scenic neighborhood where the residents know each other, socialize together and attend many of the local events.
Although the community of Mt Helix dates back more than a century, you'll always see people making new improvements and additions to their homes and gardens. Over the past few years, few of the neighbors have built cottages in their backyards, either to accommodate visiting friends and relatives, or to create a peaceful retreat for themselves.
Since many of the homes on Mt Helix are on the larger side, one of the benefits of these cottages is their smaller size. They are cozy, and quick and easy to keep fresh and clean. And they wonderful spot to read, relax, nap, or just dream.
Other folks have built outdoor gazebos, or entire outdoor kitchens. Since the climate here in Mt Helix ranks among the best in the world, people can enjoy their outdoor retreats year round.
One thing to consider in building an outdoor retreat is There are many sources for out-buildings; some are pre-built and others come ready to assemble; either way, since they are a large shipping item, many people purchase from a retailer who does not charge a hefty shipping fee. Check out www.summerwood.com for a large array of unique designs. Of course, many people like to built their own from the ground up and I've seen some very creative results throughout Mt Helix.
I've built my own cottage and absolutely love it-- call me if you are considering building one and would like more information, or if you're ready to make the move to delightful Mt Helix in La Mesa, CA.
