17 Comments on OBAMA THE APPEASER
Hi Simon, Thank goodness we live in a country where we have freedom of speech. It allows for social dialog on important subjects. Perhaps writing your legislatures in your state would be a good idea as well. They're suppose to work for us.
How is that 'Hopey-changy' thing going for everyone?
Simon - I agree with your subject, but not at all with the content. Our conventional ability is superior to everyone else and it's fair to say VASTLY superior to almost everyone. If that's the rhetoric that sooths ears out there, fine.
What I think is much more appropriate content is his announcement last week to allow off-shore drilling around Virginia and a few other places. That's counter to what he stood for and is without question an act of appeasement.
I am not for giving any of our advantages away. Typical Democrat soft on defense strong on social programs.
Simon - I guess he forgot what the term "deterrence" means, and how to back it up.
Our conventional capability is superior to almost everyone else. China can overwhelm us just with sheer numbers. And his appeasement rhetoric has not enhanched our security in the world as far as I can see, just the opposite.
Mike - For China's numbers to matter, they have to get them here. That's not going to happen.
He is definitely one of the weakest military leaders we have had in modern history. You probably have to go back to the 1800s to find somebody weaker on this front.
obama can do alot of damage in 3 years, he is also cutting our delivery systems. Why in the world would they let this go public? He has a lack of understanding of our military procedures.
One other thought, when we do get attacked and obama sits on his hands he will be revomed from office by congress.
We should have been drilling years ago, who stopped that??
Re: Obamas announcement about the nuclear issue? He is an idiot. Why would he tip his hand?
Who is he trying to please with that statement?
Tchaka - I'll believe Obama's oil drilling announcement when there is actual drilling... I would bet he has a little Easter Egg (sorry, "Spring Egg") planned for that legislation.
And Obama is all about presenting out weakest side. Personally, I don't think it would be in our best interests to use nukes, but it is DEFINITELY not in our best interests to announce it. But, while I might fall short of nukes, that doesn't mean that I wouldn't remove all vestiges of a government that allowed an attack from its soil.
Lane - You make a good point about believing it when you see it. Perhaps it's just a ruse....even so, I feel he is not being true to his beliefs by making this announcement.
Regarding the announcement, I feel it's a small concession to make other countries feel better. We're not going to use them and they know that. For us to resort to nuclear weapons would require an attack that dwarfs Sept 11th. I mean, if push comes to shove (hypothetical scenario here) who says he can't reneg? It's a concession that has no downside; anti-Obama types should be happy because it provides them with a topic to rail against him (most people don't know or care that this argument lacks merit).
I sat on the beach this weekend with a friend who is a top military pilot and chatted a bit. We have such amazing technology, we don't need nukes......soon we won't even need pilots.
Congratulations this post is now featured in the Silent Majority Group of Active Rain.
Simon,
I agree with your assessment. The president is opening us up to attack and we cannot afford to allow that to happen. Doesn't congress have to ratify anything he negotiates?
We're all doomed. Grab your pitchforks and paraphernalia, shit is about to go ugly.
Or ... I understand your concern, Simon. I'm all about protecting people of this Nation, but ... there are typically 'but's' ... I'm also concerned about this world. It's not just about us. Yet, Nukes won't appease anything ... but our demise. We can utilize language and threats all we want and there is a certain Marfioso mentality when running the world that seems to be needed to adhere too. Our President's stance should always be in question, whether his/her position is remotely close to ours. I'm not overly concerned, though. Our President hasn't grown horns and I can still dial 666 and not forsake the operator operating from 911. So far, so good... as far as this Presidency & applicable policies concerning Domestic Health.
Hi Bill:)
Simon- I am not concerned so much with this as much of the other things going on behind closed doors that we never hear about or know about. There is much more to this than one president. He is a puppet for the masters as have been many other before him. The more I study history, the more I read what was never taught to us, the more that I do research, the more I realize how much we never knew. Think back to the Roman days. What did the Senate and the Emperors do back then? Nothing much has changed. We must not be sidetracked from our goal of protecting our liberties and freedoms no matter how much it makes us uncomfortable nor how much we may disdain another. One of our founding fathers said that ( I believe it was Thomas Jefferson) those who would trade freedom for security deserve neither. Katerina
