showAn Old Theatre, with so many memories....As a kid I would walk over two miles to come to the downtown Wabash Theatre and pay my 25 cents to get in to see the movie, and of course the 10 cents for popcorn.  This Theatre was built and opened in 1905, and still stands as it did so long ago.  The inside is as it was, with three balcony's, and a huge ball room as well.  Things have not changed much with this theatre, cost is a little higher now at six dollars per grown up.  And the popcorn is also a little higher as well.  But, the memories are still there, the cost?  Priceless.  I love this old building, and what it stood for so long ago.  A place to come and relax, meet with other kids, and enjoy a Walt Disney movie, like the Shaggy Dog, or Boris Karloff's scary movies as well, that was not so good as I still had to walk home...in the dark.  I hope you have great memories as I do of your home town, like this one located in Wabash, Indiana.  Keep those memories and moments of your life alive, it is fun to do.

The Lovely Wife, Well thank you, and we did take you up on your suggestion, went back to my home town I grew up in, Wabash, Indiana and did just that.  We went to the town park where I use to play as a very young boy.  Had a great time.  Thank you for coming by, I enjoy hearing from you as always.

Bob:  I'm amazed that the theatre is still a theatre.  The old Theatre in my home town is still there but not a theatre any longer.  Where my daughter went to college in Denton TX there was a wonderful old theatre that is now a wonderful used book store.  It is actually a really cool used book store.  That's great that your theatre is still there and is still a theatre.

Lisa, your welcome, I am glad you enjoy old buildings as I do.

Marchel, Hi there, I am glad your theatre is still standing.  I will be sad if and when this theatre does close, or is changed into anything else than what it has been since 1905.  I am glad you came by and commented, thank you!

Hi Paula, I love those memories, yes, but I really like the new ones so much more.  The past is great, but we have so much to be thankful for now, and for our future too.  Thanks for your comments, I appreciate you.

Thesa, what an expense, I do know it cost quite a bit more than when we use to go as kids, but the price for all the extras is unreal.  Makes you want to bring your own pop corn.  LOL  Glad you enjoyed the post, thank you.

Well, Bob.......

Syracuse NY, where I grew up, has changed a LITTLE....... but I am not sure I would want to go back ....... I am a little different from you.....

I am not that fond of my childhood memories .... I am glad to be an adult........

I am glad God was there to see me through it...even if I didn't know him personally back then..... I can thank Him for his love and care in my childhood......

I do have cherished memories... but they are not attached to a place or to places........they are in my heart.....that is where they are kept...and today, neat things that happen to me that remind me of long lost good memories --- still make me smile.....

I know Alex, I know....seems we both have more in common than what I hoped for.  Another story, but it will be in email form.  Time takes pain away, (sometimes) and at times our past can bring up memories we wish not to ever think about.  I am just now being able to talk about some of this, and this little town is where it all happened.  I have not lived there since 1970, when I left due to some of the things we are talking about.  It was not all good, 98 % was horrible, 2% was great.  Go figure huh?  But, history, and these buildings are still amazing to me.

Hi Bob,
The old theaters are beautiful and so many of them are just sitting there empty and looking so sad.  In Morehead City, NC, the old downtown theater is being used for a live music show that runs pretty much year round.  Many people were skeptical that it would not survive but it's into it's 4th or 5th year.  It has become quite a draw.

Cynthia, I know how you feel.  I look at my old theatre and I am in awe to see it as it was when my father was a child, the inside just has not changed, the wallpaper, the popcorn popper is still the same one I use to buy popcorn at for, yes, ten cents a box.  LOL...thank you for commenting, and I hope your theatre at Morehead City stays around for a long time.
