Seabright Beach is a long walking beach from the harbor light house jetty to the sand bar cave that you can walk through to the boardwalk and the Main Santa Cruz Beach. People make this a regular vacation spot for the summer time and come rent a house or a room at a downtown hotel.

The locals came to walk their dogs (on a leash) swimming in the beach and maybe have a bomb fire in the evening. Everyone knows that there is no alcohol allowed on this beach and the police do enforce it and fine you if you are caught.

On Wednesday nights from April to October, local sailors get out for what is still called "beer can races," which is just a gathering of friendly people out on the bay. They may have called it beer can races because it is known that if you arrive anywhere on the docks and ask to go for a sailing you can probably join a crew if you BYOB. As I said these are friendly people! A good time to get to the harbor is 5:30pm when you can see the boats parading by and you will really appreciate the view when the boats open their spinnakers with all kinds of bright colors.
The harbor is surrounded by two main restaurants The Crow’s Nest and Aldo’s. It is the place to be on Wednesday nights. To get there from the lighthouse side, walk back down the jetty to the Murray/Eaton Bridge. Cross there and walk back toward the beach.
I must tell you about the perfect beach house on Castle Beach also known as Seabright beach. This is one that sold on September 9th 2009 and I tell you that because there are not many houses that even come up for sale in this location. It is great for a second home, vacation rental or both.
