Cell Phone Number Go Public This Month

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Real Living/Home Realty 24642

REMEMBER:   CELL PHONE NUMBERS GO PUBLIC THIS MONTH.

Reminder......All Cell Phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls.

YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone:  888-382-1222.  It is the National DO NOT CALL list.  It will only take a minute of your time.  It blocks your number for five (5) years.  You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked.  YOU CANNOT CALL FROM A DIFFERENT PHONE NUMBER.

IT ONLY TAKES ABOUT 20 SECONDS.

Thanks for the reminder.  Now if I can just remember to tell my wife to do the same from her phone, we should be good.

Connie, I have been getting more land line telemarketers, but not so much on the cell unless it's business related.  I did go to snopes as Rolfe #6 suggested and it does appear to be a hoax.  In any event I did register back in '03 or '04.

Hello Connie - Thanks for the tip.  I will look into this.  I certainly don't want to get solicitations on my cell phones.

Connie Lou, thank you for bringing this up again.  It's one thing to get the sales calls but quite another if it cuts into your back pocket.

Sorry Connie Loe, but this is an urban myth that comes around a few times ayear.  Telmarketers can't call your cell.  You can check out snopes.com here: http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/cell411.asp

Gabe--I respectfully disagree with you. Those stupid robot telemarketers even leave me messages. Are you telling me that you did not get robot calls from dish tv? Almost impossible to get rid of. As far as recycled information--I had not heard of the cell/do not call. Even if there is a minute chance for it to work--I will try it.

Gabe is right.    Most telemarketing calls to mobile phones are random, and/or sourced from other lists compiled by people (ever give your cell phone number to anyone/any company?, or leave a business card where anyone can find it?!?!?)

Automated telemarketing calls are actually illegal in most states anyway.

The numbers are NOT being released to the public/telemarketers in any way.
