Prosper, TX: Live, Work, and Play in Prosper, Texas!

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Dallas Suburbs: Prosper, Texas

Every week, I am asked by home sellers and home buyers the following questions:

1.  Where do you live?  PROSPER

People always want to know where a real estate agent chooses to live.  We're freelance contractors.  If we're good at what we do, we can choose to live anywhere in the region.  Where we chose to buy is very telling.  I purchased a home in Prosper, Texas in early 2006.  Our street was incomplete.  The class sizes were small, and the schools had an excellent reputation.  And, we needed a place to put down roots for the rest of our Son's school years.  My Husband's commute to work in the Legacy Business Corridor in Plano was under 20 minutes.  And, now that the tollway is open, that commute has been cut in half.  It felt like the ground-floor opportunity for which we all search.  And, it has been.

2.  Where do you work?  PROSPER

Hyper-local is a real buzz word in real estate in 2010.  Many of us are licking our wounds from a rough couple of years.  We're incredibly fortunate if we're still doing real estate full-time.  It isn't luck.  Our own personal planning, and the book of business we were carrying just ahead of the recession is what made all the difference.  How early we started pinching pennies to ride out the economic downturn in 2008 really came into play.

Hyper-local is also a choice.  When you believe you are in a popular destination within your regional housing market, you don't have to run all over the Metroplex.  You just have to focus on what's in front of you.  I choose to work in Prosper.  I am asked, through personal referral, to work in other parts of DFW.  And, I am thrilled to do so.  But, geographically, my business is centered in Prosper.  The community I know the best is Prosper, Texas.  The housing inventory that I know the best is in Prosper.  The suburban community that I believe has the brightest future, because I've seen the plans of the Economic Development Committee, is Prosper.  Prosperinprosper isn't just a .com, it's a road map to success.  That's why I work in Prosper.

3.    Where do you play?  PROSPER

You'll spot my car and run into my family all over Prosper.  We believe strongly in supporting the local community.  As a business owner myself, I realize the other small business owners are the backbone of the community.  We eat family dinners out at Ernesto's and grab a pork tenderloin for lunch at The Cotton Gin.  Our Son plays sports with the Prosper Youth Sports Association and Rogers Middle School.  After a hot day of touring homes, we swing through Sonic for happy hour.  We go to the batting cages at My Batters Box.  We play golf with friends at Gentle Creek Golf Course.  We hike and bike along the miles of trails between Lakes of La Cima and Willow Ridge.  We picnic and go fishing at the 22-acre lake in Greenspoint.  And, when all our play leaves us sore, we visit Dr. Jobe at Prosper Chiropractic for an adjustment.  Dr. Kelly Phillips at Prosper Family Medicine sees the whole family.  And, we get our glasses made at Prosper Eye Care. We look forward to the Homecoming parade.  We'll miss the 6-mile rivalry with Celina.  And, the holiday season really doesn't start each year until we go to Prosper Country Christmas.  Small town traditions really are the best, and I know we have town leadership that supports keeping the warm hometown feel of Prosper as we grow in amazing and exciting ways.

One caveat about life in Prosper, Texas:  You better like the color GREEN.  You're going to see a lot of it.  From the Prosper Peagle stickers (or classic green P's) in the back car windows to the t-shirts, hats, and sports chairs, green is everywhere.  As we say in Prosper, "GO GREEN, OR GO HOME!"

Have a blessed day!
