Established in 1881 and located only 17 miles south of Austin, Buda, Texas is a growing
bedroom community for Austin commuters and a bucolic reminder of old-fashioned
values and simpler times. It sits in northeastern Hays County.
Nestled along the Interstate 35 corridor between Austin and San Marcos TX, you
truly get the best of both worlds here: modern metropolitan living and rural

The Central Texas climate is moderate compared to most areas of Texas and the

Trimble at a railroad depot here. The area was originally settled by Phillip Allen as
part of the Mexican land grant to Stephen B. von Eggleston around 1846.

April and Budafest in December of each year. There are numerous parks in the area, and
lots of fun, old-fashioned shops downtown to discover. A new Post Office opened in late 2009,
and a Cabela's is one of the most visual landmarks that greets those who approach Buda TX from I-35.
