Apa flies to Mount Everest - Apa Sherpa will seek to summit for a 20th time to honor Sir Edmund Hillary.
Apa Sherpa, a record-setting mountain climber who has lived in Draper, Utah since 2006, flew to Mount Everest on Tuesday to prepare to ascend the world's highest mountain once again and scatter the ashes of its most celebrated climber, Sir Edmund Hillary.
Apa, with 19 successful climbs holds the record for the most trips to the summit, he flew from Salt Lake City to the Nepalese capital of Katmandu and on to Lukla, where he will begin yet another trek up Everest. This time he will deposit the remaining ashes of the legendary Hillary and clean up trash on the peak. Some of Hillary's ashes were scattered into the sea off New Zealand by his family soon after his death in 2008.
GOOD LUCK APA! - I'm following his progress and will keep you posted!
