Home Staging; Avoid a Groundhog Day Experience
Remember the movie, Groundhog Day, with Bill Murray? In 2006, Groundhog Day was added to the United States National Film Registry as being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
Having your house on the market is the same as living in the real estate version of this classic flick. Everyday you must wake up and make the beds, wipe down all the counters, clear any dishes, sparkle up the faucets, hide the bath towels, tuck away any pending laundry, tidy up the toys, make the floors shimmer, and, well, you know the drill. The list goes on and on, because today may be the day that special someone will walk in the door and say "WOW! I have to have this home!" Or, maybe not today, but you just don't know.
I recently read a great article written by a successful home stager, Maureen Henry of Rockland Home Staging Maureen's article is titled; An Agent Stole Eight Months of My Life In this article she quotes a satisfied client who, after 8 months on the market, took the necessary step to stage his home using Maureen's home staging expertise. Here's what he said, "Rockland Home Staging and my new agent turned this home from having no offers in 8 months to having 3 offers out of 12 showings and selling in only a few weeks"
What a relief! The real estate adaptation of Groundhog Day is over; at least for this seller!
We all loved the movie, but nobody wants to experience it! Above, I quoted the movie Groundhog Day as deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." If you are going to market your home, or if your home has been sitting on the market for a while, do yourself a favor, think about this tribute. Then, relate this tribute to your current demise of being stuck in the midst of an altered real estate copy of the movie Groundhog Day.
