Thankful Thursdays: Overcoming adversity

This flowering plum tree sits only 5 feet from the highway and has seen plenty of seasons come and go. During its many years, it has survived severe winds and plenty of inclement weather. As you can see, some of the limbs are broken and now face downward, but yet they still continue to grow and flower every Spring. Even twisted and splintered, the tree continues to flourish and amaze me with its beauty every year.

That is what I consider overcoming adversity.

What a beautiful sight that tree must be when passing it by on your way to wherever you're heading.

Wanda, this reminds me of when I live in NYC, a huge concrete jungle and between the cracks on a teaspoon of dirt a flower would be blooming, it always made me wonder how that was even possible....

Great picture, great story...

reminds me of an apple tree on the way to my parents...  about 20 yrs ago, the tree broke in half during a particularly bad winter storm leaving about 1/8 of the trunk connected with the tree branches resting on the ground about 8 feet away (the rest of the tree trunk was splintered).

Yet somehow that tree managed not only to survive, but be fruitful... The branches (on the ground) would flower every spring and bear fruit in the fall.

I will drive by and take a picture of it... it must be years since I have been on that particular road... share it with you soon.  hagd Wanda

Staying focused on what is truly meaningful, what is important and what I want to accomplish helps me not give into the frustration of adversity. The tree is definitely an example of perseverance and patience.

Thanks Wanda,

Cal

That tree is thriving on the exhaust fumes of the cars traveling on the highway:-)  It is the first partner in converting it back to oxygen!  All kidding aside, that is really a neat looking tree.  It's wall to wall flowers!

Tom, Yes, nature has a way of surviving and thriving!

Cal, Learning to adapt is a great way to great through the tough times! Thanks!

Thanks Myrl, It was difficult to get the entire tree into the shot to see all the twisty turns of the branches. I think it's a beautiful example.

Nature always seems to find a way to survive.  I think we as Real Estate Agents also find a way to survive.
