I often think about a section on my profile page here on Active Rain that I have never completed. I think about it a lot and I admit, it kind of haunts me sometimes. To this day I haven't added a single word here, yet I continue to contemplate as I stair into the empty space set aside for it. I've been an active participant here on AR since November of 2008.

The section I am referring to is My Active Rain Success Story.

My dilemma (as I find or define it) is, I'm not a Realtor®. So, in my mind I disqualify myself and procrastinate putting something in that space.

I can't claim nor brag that blogging on Active Rain brought me a ton of real estate business selling homes. Yet, I have made many friends here and have had my fair share of referrals from this community.

I guess it all depends how you define success...

I've worked directly with Realtors since 1984 and I take great pride in my work knowing without a doubt that I have been of value and a sincere creative service provider to the real estate community. And, I consider myself very fortunate to have carved out a niche for myself in the title insurance industry that never existed before I showed up. I'm not claiming to be 'the' original one or the very first one. I'm really fessing up to the fact that I'm incapable of being anything other than me myself and I, a driven perfectionist human being with an insatiable thirst for figuring things out and always bent on expressing them creatively and to the best of my abilities. In other words, I don't fit into boxes very well.

I don't have a choice. I was wired that way...

Therefore and thusly so... I found a great place to hangout here at Active Rain. I've been inspired by several here and with a few of you, I've had the good fortune to collaborate.

Other than music and writing, I have a deep passion for all things visual, especially digital photography. I also love to draw and paint. One of the things I really love about digital photography is the ability to mix the medium with painting and everything else graphic. Over the years I've collected several visual software tools, some free, some cheap, and a few too expensive. I use this eclectic collection, each tool for a specific task it does well, and love spending the day (which isn't often enough) playing with images and wondering where they will take me.

It's along these lines I'd say My Active Rain Success Story would be getting to know people here with passion and talent. One example would be the inspiration I receive through two of my favorite bloggers on Active Rain; William Johnson, San Diego, California, and Richard Weisser, Newnan, Georgia... These guys are not only consistently amazing bloggers but they both have a keen eye for the visual. They take beautiful pictures and share them with us all the time. Thanks guys!

A while back I needed to create an image for a workshop I was giving that helped us visualize 'web presence'. One of the ideas I wanted to express was the similarities between developing a web presence and casting a net... After several failed attempts using my own photos I stumbled upon a picture I liked while searching for images of nets on Google. After a few days and a weekend I turned it into this:

unleash your inner-net and maximize your listing presence.

The companion article written by Ivan Misner was published on Entrepreneur.com September 12, 2007... In web time, that's a long time ago. Yet Ivan's thoughts are very forward looking and it still holds up today.

I was just working on this and tried to post my comment on this section. Unfortunately I got a proxy error message and lost my update.  My comment was about learning from the members and because of ActiveRain, I am now blogging about my neighborhood. I think thats a success story for me!
