Cuban clarinetist and sax master Paquito D'Rivera and his quintet offer an evening of cool Latin music sounds to audiences at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg, WV, on Saturday, April 10, 2010.

Paquito D'RiveraPaquito D'Rivera started learning music at the age of 5 with his father Tito Rivera, a well-known classical saxophonist and conductor in Cuba.  When he was seven, became the youngest artist ever to endorse a musical instrument, when he signed on with the music company Selmer.   He is the recipient of 10 Grammy Awards.

Paquito D'Rivera draws on the influences from his early years in Havana where he was a child prodigy who performed with the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. His masterful work on reed instruments is accompanied by brass, bass, percussion and piano to make the D'Rivera Quintet an explosive evening of jazz, rock, classical and traditional Cuban music.


 


 

Since Lewisburg's 4th Annual Chocolate Festival is also on Saturday, this will be a fun day for the entire family.  Come and enjoy the Chocolate Festival from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM (SEE schedule for all the chocolate events);  enjoy a chocolate themed dinner......

and, at 7:30 PM enjoy Paquito D'Rivera Quintet at Carnegie Hall.


Saturday in Lewisburg will be a fun-filled day for all!

Roy, It is only 4-5 hours from Mayland to Lewisburg...and a very nice drive I might add.
