We have a Premier Park in Lake Charles, for our enjoyment, Prien Lake Park!
This is the best time of year in Southwest Louisiana. I decided to take advantage of the Spring temperatures and head out today to feature of one of the favorite outdoor places in Lake Charles, Prien Lake Park.
Prien Lake Park offers recreation and relaxation for all ages. This jewel of a park is managed and maintained by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury. The park overlooks Indian Bay on the Eastern shore of Prien Lake. At a glance Prien Park features:
- Canoe and Boat Launch
- Playground
- Sprayground waterpark for kids
- Walking paths with measurement markings
- Picnic Areas
- Wireless internet connection throughout the park
- Beautiful plaza fountains, streams and landscaping
The backdrop of the Prien Lake and the landmark 210 bridge create a "Boardwalk" environment for park enjoyment and a view of a magnificent sunset over the water. Dog walkers, runners, joggers and walkers can stroll and enjoy the beauty of Prien Lake. You can picnic, party, play and get fit!
There are 2 walking paths, the Eagle Path .42 miles and Pelican Path .8 miles.
Prien Park also offers Pavilions and Facilities for your special events.
Indian Bay Pavilion is a 1,568 sq. ft open air pavilion with three large fans to circulate the air with adjacent parking and restroom facilities. Indian Bay Pavilion rents for $350 and is perfect for family functions, school field trips, business retreats.
Harbor's Edge Pavilion splits into two rooms; the Calcasieu Room and the Sabine Room.
The Calcasieu Room is 1,670 sq ft and can accommodate 175 people and rents for $700. The Sabine Room is 1,074 sq ft accommodates 75 people and rents for $450. There are restrooms adjacent with parking. Harbor's Edge Pavilion is becoming a favorite for weddings.
Prien Pointe Amphitheatre seats 100 and can be reserved for performances or other events. Each Spring and Fall the Police Jury shows all types of family movies under a star filled Friday or Saturday evening. The best thing about the Under the Stars event is they are totally free! Bring your lawn chair or your blanket and enjoy some of the silver screens finest right here! I have listed the schedule below that will begin next weekend!

Each movie begins at 7:00 PM, or at dusk at Prien Lake Park, located at 3700 West Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles. Admission is free to the public.
You are allowed to bring your own food, or you can purchase refreshments on-site.
In the event of bad weather, the event will be canceled.
