Trulia, Zillow, Move & Others Sued
The company Smarter Agent, has filed a complaint against Trulia, Zillow, Move, HotPads, IDX, ZipRealty and others claiming patent infringement.
The lawsuit claims that these companies are infringing on 3 of the patents they hold for mobile home search technology.
The best I can understand is that it is specifically regarding their GPS technology. I am not in a position to interpret the 62 page document, but here's a link to it. However, I do not believe this is regarding a mobile application which allows you to only search listings. From what I can tell, it's regarding their "very special" technology which uses a mobile device's GPS to display listings that are around the user's exact location.
Some of the defendants have already stated that they will fight this vigorously, as reported by Inman News.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
