5 Cheap Curb Appeal Tips you've Probably Never Heard Before - by CurbAppealforDummies.com

1.Remove your landscaping!

Okay, not really, but dress your flower beds to impress by trimming back all plantings and taking some out to reveal about 30% of the ground. Add extremely dark mulch to those areas any VOILA – instant wow! The dark mulch will make your plants look greener and newer, and the beds look freshly tended. Use it everywhere – around trees where grass doesn't grow, in flower pots, wherever bare earth is seen.

2.Get on your roof and scrub it on your hands and knees!

Or, better yet, buy a great product called Roof Reviver. Your squirt it on your roof with a bug sprayer, and in only 3-4 rains, all the black gunk washes off by itself, and it looks like you have a brand new roof, and every buyer wants to see a brand new roof. Go to www.RoofReviver.com and spend only $80 for a this wonderful stuff!

3.Evict your tenants!

The six and eight legged ones, anyway.

Spare no expense on a can of really expensive $5.99 outdoor bug spray and use it liberally around your front door and porch ceiling. Those nasty spiderwebs are not working in your favor, and your buyers will be standing out there looking at everything.

Make sure nothing is hanging around the door looking back!

4.Don't be a Ding Dong!

If your doorbell is ugly, rusty, or just a relic from 1972, break out that wallet one more time and whip out a twenty! The most expensive doorbell at Lowe's is $15, and attaching it will take you no time at all. Your buyers may have to touch it, so make it a pleasurable experience!

5. Give all your potential Buyers a Glassy-Eyed Stare!

If the "Eyes are the Windows to the Soul"' then the windows are the eyes and soul of the house. Match all your window treatments inside to present a uniform look on the front of the house. There are even really cool paper accordion shades that will do this trick inside your existing treatments that are really inexpensive. And, of course, clean your windows until they sparkle, or the Feng Shui ladies will be coming for you!

Hi Jim and Maria -

Thanks for commenting - it is fantastic stuff and a MUST when selling. You have no idea how dirty your roof is until you use this product. It's shocking to see the original color after being used to seeing the roof through years of grime!

You know what the sad thing is? Old roofs with asbestos in them didn't get as dirty as the new ones do. They practically attract tree sap nowadays. So even recently roofed homes need this product.

Michelle- These are all good points, easy to do, relatively inexpensive and some that are often overlooked.  I love mulch!  Had never heard of RoofReviver but am definitely going to look into it.  Here in Florida, most of the homes need a good pressure cleaning as well.

Hi Sharon -

You'll love RoofReviver. That nasty black stuff accumulating on roofs all over America is epidemic, and really drags down the neighborhood.

I'm glad you haven't seen that doorbell. No one should!

Hi Cathy - Thanks for the vote of confidence!

A doorbell is a beautiful device when it works properly. I am sort of a stickler about them. I like 'em real fancy, and this site has some nice ones.

But even then I want them to be a bigger and more important-looking design element. I suggest my sellers go one step further and mount them on a larger wooden plaque or stainless steel plate, depending on the style of their house.

LOVE the Roof Reviver! I've seen, firsthand, how dirty roofs can be a huge turnoff--roof condition being a major concern to potential buyers.

Thank you, thank you.
