The Economy is not that much better

I got a frantic call from a friend this morning ... she's a Registered Nurse!  She's going to have to sell her home, the only good thing that she got from a disasterous and abuse marriage.

My first question (we've talked about putting her home on the market in the past and I've encouraged her to wait for the market to even out) is "Why now?  What's happened?"  My hope is that a Prince Charming rode up on his horse this morning as she was going into work and is taking her to an exotic Caribbean Island where she will become his Princess.

Wrong!  :(

After 22 years with the SAME employer ... and 21 of those years being the only RN on staff at the ambulatory surgical center where she works ... she is informed that they are making staff reductions and that she needs to leave the property immediately.  Imagine her shock.  No warning.  Nothing.  She worked her rear end off and this is what she gets.  Needless to say she is devastated.

There were, on hindsight, warnings that this was coming.  There have been days where they didn't have enough surgeries and their days were cut ... she did this without complaining ... the took all the staff from employment with the surgery center and put them over with another company that was a shell for the practice ... no complaints.

More on what happened may surface in the near future, but right now she's looking for a job.  And an attorney!

It's the economy!

I disagree * It's a preview of OBAMACARE * she needs to consider takingin a ROOMMATE or RENTING her home and being MOBILE for another job in another location and waiting for a property to sell is prolonging her agony if there are no jobs where she located!!!

How terribly sad for your friend. 22 years of loyalty for nothing. I think she should heed Wallace's advice.

But we're suppose to be having a jobless recovery, right?
